Aims, Objectives and Background Purpose of the study was to provide supporting evidence for application depilatory cream on a child presenting with hair tourniquet syndrome, measure it’s efficacy any side effects. Hair syndrome is rare phenonium there are minimal evidenced based studies support best practice how remove them safely. Our department has been using dissolve hair, have audited 3 years worth data in order achieve sample size large enough show this procedure. Sample still low at 22 patients, but representative rareity complaint. Method Design With patients attending where skin intact, Depilatory applied site 6–8 minutes according products instructions, then washed off thoroughly an aim hair. The audit retrospective attendances busy children’s Emergency department. It looked age child, tourniquet, method used iatrogenic effects from chosen. also further care needed if removal unsuccessful. Results Conclusion 95% had removed effectively within 1 hour arrival ED x children manually, which one received small wound scalpel. 18 applied, those it effective 83% 1st time.
